The sustainable energy transition– we’re all talking about it, but what does it really mean? Put very simply, it’s the switch from an energy system based on fossil fuels to a low carbon one where energy is generated from renewable sources.Realising the potential of renewable energy–for a cleaner environment, for sustainability and gradually reducing our dependence on imported fossil fuels – governments started to support these new technologies.
2018 is the year of the so-called 'Talanoa Dialogue', an dialogue to help take stock of the collective progress towards the goals of the Paris Agreement, building up to the next conference in the Katowice COP24.
After signing the Covenant of Mayors in 2009, Rakvere became the first city in Estonia to take the political commitment to adopt a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) in order to meet EU climate and energy targets.
